How to send garbageīefore we talk about new mechanics in Tetris 99, let’s discuss garbage. Winning takes both expert Tetris skills, a little bit of luck, and a command of Tetris 99‘s various new mechanics. Sounds easy enough, right? Unfortunately, it’s more complicated than that. If you manage to keep it in playable condition longer than the rest of the competition, you win. In short, the goal is to not let your board fill completely. As you clear lines, you’ll send garbage (the gray blocks) to other players’ screens. The goal is to arrange the seven different tetrominoes as they fall into the screen to clear lines, preferably multiple lines at once. Tetris 99 is largely the same as any other Tetris game. Sure, it’s that version of Tetris that Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can download for free, but beyond that, it’s also a battle royale game.

Mario Golf, meanwhile, has received a free update that adds Toadette, a New Donk City course, and ranked matches. Ultimate is also holding an event this week that introduces new Mario Golf: Super Rush Spirits. Bandai Namco recently announced that Pac-Man 99 surpassed four million downloads, and the game will receive additional themes and updates in the future. Tetris 99 is developed by Arika, which also worked on Pac-Man 99-a similar battle royale-style classic that's free to download for Switch Online members. Nintendo also offers a $35 USD annual family plan that covers up to eight Nintendo Accounts. Individual memberships cost $4 USD for one month, $8 USD for three months, and $20 USD for one year. Tetris 99 is free to download and play for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, and you need to have a subscription to participate in its Maximus Cup events.
